Brooklyn
Housing & Family Services delivers educational workshops and
development sessions. The workshops
are delivered on many levels and provide information regarding both the
rights and responsibilities of owners and occupants; housing law and human
rights; crime prevention, safety and lead poisoning prevention. Brooklyn Housing & Family Services has trained the staff of
eighteen senior centers, five community boards, sixteen elected officials,
twelve CBO’s and two college student affairs offices in housing and human
rights and the steps necessary to protect and defend them. Our training
programs have developed a network of hundreds of persons throughout New York City who are
proficient in defending the rights of the under served, low-income minority
and immigrant residents of New
York City.

Lead Poisoning Prevention
Training
|
We educate the
owners of multiple-dwellings and their maintenance personnel regarding lead
poisoning prevention and abatement procedures. We educate tenants in the sources and
signs of lead poisoning. At Senior
Centers we teach grandparents about lead poisoning so that they may share
the information with their children who have small children. As part of our Child Safety Program, we are making children active
participants in the prevention of lead poisoning by telling them how they
can help their parents keep their smaller siblings safe.
